‘The criers of the Mysteries speak again, bidding all men welcome to the House of Light. The great institution of materiality has failed. The false civilization built by man has turned, and like the monster of Frankenstein, is destroying its creator. Religion wanders aimlessly in the maze of theological speculation. Science batters itself impotently against the barriers of the unknown. Only transcendental philosophy knows the path. Only the illumined reason can carry the understanding part of man upward to the light. Only philosophy can teach man to be born well, to live well, to die well, and in perfect measure be born again. Into this band of the elect--those who have chosen the life of knowledge, of virtue, and of utility--the philosophers of the ages invite YOU.’
‘Science is always discovering odd scraps of magical wisdom and making a tremendous fuss about its cleverness.’
‘To explain all nature is too difficult a task for any one man or even for any one age'.
I have been tight lipped about this topic before, and for good reason. Most people should not study this field, or go anywhere near ‘conjuring’ anything, but I will speak on it now because, ultimately, you will just get this information from other sources (which may or may not be reliable), and if you’re going to throw yourself into the study of something which, by definition, bends and alters your day to day reality, it might be of some help to have a thread throughout it all that you can hold onto. This thread is the thing you can grip on in the dark labyrinth, although I do not imagine myself to be an Ariadnatic figure. Before we get into the dark waters however, I’d like to offer a prolegomena to any future occult writing.
There is a great deal of hysterics around this subject, including from the gatekeepers, who refuse to speak in specifics and instead cast a net around your eyes. They say do not study this, or you’ll go to hell, or perhaps in a demagogue’s tongue, I do not speak on such things because of the dangers of wisdom. In both cases, let me state this as plainly as I can put it, they rebuke enlightenment ideals. There is some virtue to doing so, although of course many who act in the name of virtue really are doing so to enforce their own power and control over you. It is then a very convenient thing to say I will not speak of the things that have made me powerful, for you would not survive the journey towards what I am. Instead, let me teach it to you, and perhaps in return, I’ll take some time, energy, and funding for doing so. I do not begrudge such men from such tricks, but in this case I will rebuke it, because in the end I am seeking a larger scale effect on the world. It is my vision, then, that I do not have a large following of dullards and pay pigs who, in the end, learn nothing, and waste years of their time, and much of their money, on paying for crumbs. I will do the actual dangerous thing, and tell you like it is, and will let you deal with such dangers yourself. You are men, are you not? Perhaps some of the future writings on esotericism would lead to aberrations and faltered steps, but is this not the way of the fool, who might approach the fruits of mastery? I put forth a simple enough question to you—would you prefer to be the fool and take steps towards mastery, or to be treated as masters and kept in your current status as a fool? I do not feed into delusions, I do not want a following for the sake of a following, and I ultimately trust that you are the keeper of your own soul, and it is not me, any other thinker or writer, nor dogma or customs. Insofar as the ethical concern of writing on such subjects that may be authentically dangerous, then, I hope to clear my hands of any wrongdoing.
Your life is your own, and if our paths are to converge in the aim of authentic truth, light, and virtue, then I pray that to be the case, and I will not keep you in the dark, behind me. Either step up and walk beside me, or go away. I do not want followers—I want the world to be as it should. The road is caustic and purifying, and if that scares you, then refuse the path, stop reading here, and go on your way. In the end, all things shall be redeemed. The restitution of the world is not in my hands or your hands, but in another’s entirely. It is God’s. Let the superstition fall away, the figures of demagoguery wither into a fine mist, and the heavenwide light pierce us all who traverse the dark in good faith.
